Public hearing scheduled for proposed route changes

VIA Metropolitan Transit will hold a public hearing to receive comments from citizens regarding proposed route changes scheduled to take effect June 7, 2010. The hearing will be held on the following date: Thursday, March 25 6:00 p.m. VIA Metro Center 1021 San Pedro
The proposed changes are as follows:
2 Blanco – Saturday schedule will be adjusted to provide a consistent 30-minute daytime service frequency. 5 McCullough – Route will be extended north from Airport Boulevard and Northern Boulevard to provide direct service to the San Antonio International Airport passenger terminals. 30 Rigsby – Buses that now turn back at the Rigsby/Loop 410 Walmart will instead continue east to U.S. Highway 87 and Foster Meadows Drive. The inbound trips will proceed via the route that is currently served by the extended peak period trips only. 34 South St. Mary’s – Saturday schedule will be adjusted to provide a consistent 30-minute daytime service frequency. 76 Old Highway 90 West Skip – Trips will be added to provide a 15-minute service frequency throughout the midday period as well as during peak periods on weekdays. 524 General McMullen Frequent – The route will be modified to travel through Port San Antonio on General McMullen, Duncan, and Frio City Road to Cupples rather than on Roselawn through the San Fernando Cemetery to Cupples.
In addition to the above changes, minor schedule adjustments will be made for routes 6, 93, 550, 551, and 660.
The VIA Metro Center is accessible by wheelchair. People who are deaf or hard of hearing may request an interpreter 48 hours prior to the meeting by calling TDD 362-2019 or the Public Affairs office at 362-2370.
