VIA holding second meeting for U.S. 281 project

Posted: 9/13/2012

VIA Metropolitan Transit is teaming up with the office of San Antonio City Councilwoman Elisa Chan to hold a public meeting for the planning and site selection phase of the U.S. Highway 281 North Park and Ride project.

The meeting will be held Thursday, September 27 beginning at 6:30 p.m. in the Atrium of the North Central Baptist Hospital, 520 Madison Oak Drive. This meeting is a follow-up to a previous public meeting held in August.

At the September 27 meeting representatives from VIA will present the site concepts for phases 1 and 2 of the project. Phase 1, which could begin in 2013, includes the construction of a shelter to provide comfort for passengers when the service begins. The service plan will provide express bus service from the park and ride to the downtown area, and future service could include connections to other services in the area. Phase 2 of the project would add more parking and include the construction of an enclosed waiting area. More information will be available at the meeting, and there will be opportunities for attendees to provide their input.

The meeting location is accessible by wheelchair. People who are deaf or hard of hearing may request an interpreter 48 hours prior to the meeting by calling TDD 362-2019 or the Public Affairs office at 362-2370.
