Bus route changes go into effect November 2

VIA Metropolitan Transit has revised the services for some of its bus routes. These changes, which affect the following routes, will go into effect Monday, November 2.

5 McCullough – Buses will operate every 60 minutes on the weekends except during periods of heaviest ridership (generally in the afternoon).
6 U.S. 281 Express – Buses will operate every 15 minutes during the morning peak period and every 20 minutes during the afternoon peak period.
8 North St. Mary’s – Buses will operate every 60 minutes on Saturdays except during periods of heaviest ridership (generally in the afternoon).
14 Perrin Beitel Frequent – Buses will operate every 20 minutes on weekdays with 15-minute peak service. Buses will operate every 30 minutes on weekends with 20-minute service on Saturdays during periods of heaviest ridership (generally in the afternoon).
17 IH-35 Express – Two morning and one afternoon peak period trips will be eliminated.
22 Hays – Buses will operate every 20 minutes on weekdays.
25 East Commerce Frequent – Buses will operate every 15 minutes on weekdays including peak periods.
30 Rigsby – Buses will operate every 60 minutes on the weekends except during periods of heaviest ridership (generally in the afternoon).
32 Steves – Buses will operate every 60 minutes on the weekends with 30-minute service on Saturdays during periods of heaviest ridership (generally in the afternoon).
36 South Presa – Buses will operate every 60 minutes on the weekends except during periods of heaviest ridership (generally in the afternoon).
51 Nogalitos – Buses will operate every 30 minutes on weekdays with 20-minute peak service.
62 Kirk – Buses will operate every 60 minutes during weekday off-peak hours and all day on Saturdays.
64 U.S. 90 Express – When traveling toward downtown from Ellison Drive and Wiseman Boulevard, route will turn west on Wiseman, south on Loop 1604, and then east on West Military Drive to State Highway 151. Selected peak trips will serve a new park-and-ride facility on West Military. Additional trips will be provided from Northwest Vista College in the morning.
67 Laredo – Buses will operate every 60 minutes on Saturdays except during periods of heaviest ridership (generally in the afternoon).
75 West Commerce Frequent – Buses will operate every 15 minutes on weekdays including peak periods.
79 Ruiz Frequent – Buses will operate every 20 minutes on weekdays with 15-minute peak service. Buses will operate every 30 minutes on weekends with 20-minute service on Saturdays during periods of heaviest ridership (generally in the afternoon). Route will also be modified in the downtown area to travel down Durango Boulevard, Navarro Street, and St. Mary’s Street instead of down Commerce Street and Market Street.
82 Culebra – Buses will operate every 30 minutes on weekdays with 20-minute peak service.
90 Woodlawn – Buses will operate every 60 minutes on the weekends except during periods of heaviest ridership (generally in the afternoon).
94 IH-10 Fiesta Texas Express – One trip in the morning and one trip in the afternoon will be eliminated.
96 Vance Jackson – Buses will operate every 60 minutes on the weekends with 30-minute service on Saturdays during periods of heaviest ridership (generally in the afternoon).
522 Babcock – Buses will operate every 60 minutes on Saturdays.
608 Mainland/Bandera Pointe – Route will be eliminated.
Blue Streetcar Route – Route will be converted into a two-way continuous loop with service primarily on Alamo Street, Avenue E, Fourth Street, Camden Street, and Flores Street. Some portions of the existing turn-around loops will be eliminated.
Purple Streetcar Route – Route will be eliminated.

In addition to the above changes, the following route schedules will be adjusted: 3, 46, 66, 89, 502, 505, 509, 606, and 630.

Also, the following routes will have changes to their pairings: 14, 22, 32, 51, 79, 82, and 96.
